WSUS does use the same Group Policy templates, so there isn't much difference there. I have mine set up to wake all the computers at 1:30am, install the updates at 2:00am, then force all of them down at 2:30am. When you force the installation at a certain time, it used to automatically reboot the workstations (if necessary), regardless if you were logged in or not with a five minute notice. However, with the SP2+ version of the update software it behaves a bit differently, in that it will keep prompting the user every 10 minutes to reboot. I haven't tested it thoroughly yet though. -----Original Message----- From: Amy Babinchak [mailto:amy@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, September 16, 2005 9:36 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] Re: Enforce Strict RPC Compliance Definition http://www.ISAserver.org Steve, I haven't loaded WSUS yet, but in SUS you could have it force boot the workstations after installation. You could also tell it what time to install the updates. So, if you set the installs to happen automatically at 7:00pm with a forced reboot, no need to run your script. I would hope that WSUS has the same features. It's very handy to be able to reboot 30 workstations from a central point after I have approved the monthly WSUS updates and the pc's need restarted, You can't always rely on the clients to do this. Some of my clients would just leave their pc's logged on for months if they could get away with it. S
