Hugo, We have an ADSL modem rather than a router, so it is slightly different. You would need to somehow find out the router's WAN IP; how you would do this depends on the router Nick Chadwick Development & Technical Support Manager Comsoft Limited, UK Tel: +44-(0)20-8240-4452 Fax: +44-(0)20-8240-4449 Mobile: +44-(0)7740-362408 Email: nick@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:nick@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Web: http://www.comsoft.ltd.uk/ -----Original Message----- From: Hugo Caye [mailto:Hugo@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 26 September 2001 22:59 To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: Dynamic Update Service http://www.ISAserver.org Nick, thank for your promptly reply. In your case, are you updating the DNS zone with the IP address assigned to the router's WAN public interface? My doubt is just that, if the software client that will run in ISA can "discover" the IP address that's bound to the public WAN interface of the router. The IP address that is bound to the ISA public interface (rfc-1918) is not reacheable from outside. Would appreciate your comments. Thank you a lot, Hugo -----Original Message----- From: Nick Chadwick [mailto:nick@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: quarta-feira, 26 de setembro de 2001 06:24 To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: Dynamic Update Service http://www.ISAserver.org I use zoneedit.com, which is free for upto 5 domains provided you get less than 2Gb DNS traffic per year, for our domain. It allows you to set up all the usual DNS records (A, CNAME, MX, etc.), and within seconds of updating it on the webpage, their DNS server is updated. I then wrote a little PHP script that runs every minute, and programatically updates our DNS records on zoneedit.com. Something similar should be possible for your setup. I am not aware of any off-the-shelf solutions. Does anybody know if there is a dynamic DNS service (like dns2go, tzo, etc.) that works if I have an ISA server behind an ADSL NAT router? The router is a 3Com OCR-812. The dynamic DNS client software that runs in the ISA server should register the public IP address bound at the WAN port of the ADSL NAT router. Is it possible to map a TCP port from the public IP address that is dynamically assigned by the ISP DHCP server to the router WAN port to the ISA RFC 1918-like socket (ip_addr + tcp_port)? This mapping appears to need a static public IP address.
