Hi, Log files are an important asset for any business. However, what you will find is that every folder that you setup in IIS 5.0 that states log me or log this resource will add an entry to your log file stored in SQL. The important thing to remember is that you must filter information out of the logs else reading the results will be skewed. I filter for all graphics, 404, 500, local site hits etc and then Move that data into appropriate summary tables for analysis. Once you have the raw data filtered and sorted you can delete the raw data file. If your doing back ups on the log files that are imported then you can always restore them if you need further analysis. I'm using an SQL server to save log information. This data file is growing quite fast, now about 150 MB after 4 days. Question : a) Is this behaviour normal ? b) Can I do something to compress this database ? c) Does anyone has usefull Access or other reporting tools to query the SQL server ? Mant thanks in advance, Mikey Mike Fraeye____________________________________________________________ Microsoft Backoffice Support Center Siemens Business Services Guido Gezellestraat 121 B- 1654 Huizingen Fax : +32(0)2 536 34 58 > * E-mail : mike.fraeye@xxxxxx ________________________________________________________________________ _ ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: cismic@xxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub')
