First things first, I'm no boffin but have been burnt by a disaster (a
fire as it happens, but no pun intended!)

If they want a plan in place, I'm assuming they have hardware / will
have hardware in place?

If they have, is there the possibility of imaging to dvd?
My (very basic) ISA setup will image onto 1 CD - and I have an identical
machine off site should I need it!

...Spence

Subject: [isalist] Disaster Recovery for ISA server.

Hi,

I'm working with a company to put together and test a DR plan. A lot
talk about it and do lip service, but here is one, who wants a tested
plan in place !

Most of the stuff is simple, but we have an issue with one item, the ISA
server.

What is considered the best method to transfer settings from one ISA
server to another.

I've seen first hand the mess created by a backup and restore onto
another ISA server.

The plan current plan is, (subject to change as a result of a brilliant
idea from one of the ISA boffins !) is to copy / export/ backup whatever
the existing settings eg, block lists, firewall rules, vpn settings,
network settings etc, and then have these ready to be loaded onto the DR
servers, if required. What ever is put in place will create a set of
files cut to DVD ready to be used to put the basic server setting like
AD, back together, ready for the restore of the files / exchange / sql /
etc.

Any suggestions much appreciated.
