http://insecure.org is a great site.
The owner of the site wrote a program called nmap, which can scan a
computer to see what ports are open (or an entire network).
That person also put up a list of some other network tools.
I currently use Ethereal (for Windows and Linux) to do network scanning
for funkiness.
You can get results in realtime if you so desired, which is especially
handy for ICMP worms.
