"All you need to do is limit it to a Client Address Set that contains only
the servers needing anonymous access."

This automatic updates is needed for all machines and this method wont be
good I guess.
Also, I have anonymous access allowed for now, but it still fails.

Windows Update has no user context to use for ISA authentication requests.
You'll have to create anonymous rules to allow those servers to get their
updates without user intervention.
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=312955 illustrates the basic configuration
for this rule.

All you need to do is limit it to a Client Address Set that contains only
the servers needing anonymous access.

Subject: [isalist] Auto Updates

http://www.ISAserver.org

Hi my auto updates on windows 2003 servers fail. The servers are web servers
published on ISA.

The system log shows

Event 16

Unable to connect: Windows is unable to connect to the Automatic Updates
service and therefore cannot download and install updates according to the
set schedule. Windows will continue to try to establish a connection.

I have the following settings:

I have HTTP 1.1 over proxy enabled in IE settings

Auto config script in IE

Proxy and securnat client

Require authentication in ISA

IE has login with current username and password in security options.

When I use updates site manually .. it goes through fine.

Any Suggestions ?

TIA
