Subject: [isalist] Adding SSL to my web server while using ISA - how?

http://www.ISAserver.org

Hi all

I have MS Small Business Server 2000 which uses Win2k server, ISA server
and IIS all on the same PC. I used a tutorial (Shinder) from ISAserver.org
to publish the web site OK, but now I want to use SSL.

I installed Microsoft Certificates Services and added the snap-in MMC to
the SBS2000 MMC and created a root CA certificate from my company to my
company.

My problem is that the certificates snap-in (not the Certificates Services
snap-in) which creates the certificate request returns a message saying
there is no root CA available when I've just installed one.

Also I don't understand how the various certificate stores interact. The
above snap-in's seem to work in Win2000, however where does ISA look when
it asks for a certificate when configuring 'Incoming web requests'.

I created a request directly from IIS and got a test certificate from the
Thawte web site as well as their root CA certificate for the browser. I
installed that ok and SSL became available for IIS, however ISA couldn't
find the same certificate or couldn't 'process it' when requesting the web
site (I have a thought the certificate naming is importnat here). So I was
stumped again.

Can anyone disentagle this for me - all I want is server side
certification for SSL to work.
