Hi Peter, Thanks for the info! The AD stuff is pretty interesting, esp. in the Exchange 2000 Server context. The Exchange Global Address lists is stored in Active Directory. The Global Catalog is used during email address resolution / email address lookups. When you install Exchange 2000 it extends the Active Directory schema to include email address and other Exchange setup info (I.e. alias, mailbox security, forwarding, etc) Peter ----- Original Message ----- From: Thomas W Shinder <mailto:tshinder@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] <mailto:isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, March 06, 2003 6:17 PM Subject: [isalist] RE: 307926 - Outlook Clients Cannot Connect to an ISA Server-Published Exchange 2000 Server http://www.ISAserver.org Hi John, Its seems to be an authentication issue to me, but I'm allergic to the AD, so you'll have to ask someone who knows more about that than I do :-) Tom Thomas W Shinder www.isaserver.org/shinder ISA Server and Beyond: http://tinyurl.com/1jq1 Configuring ISA Server: http://tinyurl.com/1llp -----Original Message----- From: John Tolmachoff [mailto:isalist@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2003 6:40 PM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] RE: 307926 - Outlook Clients Cannot Connect to an ISA Server-Published Exchange 2000 Server http://www.ISAserver.org Why does Outlook go looking for a GC? Turns out that Outlook sends out a query asking the Exchange Server for a GC name. The RPC publishing rule really doesn't care for this, and breaks the connection when the external Outlook client sends the query. 307926 - Outlook Clients Cannot Connect to an ISA Server-Published Exchange 2000 Server: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307926 Thomas W Shinder www.isaserver.org/shinder <http://www.isaserver.org/shinder> ISA Server and Beyond: http://tinyurl.com/1jq1 <http://tinyurl.com/1jq1> Configuring ISA Server: http://tinyurl.com/1llp <http://tinyurl.com/1llp>
