Hi Maureen, of course this is a guide dog issue! I have only encountered
this voucher once. Don't know how or why this is, It must have been more
than a year ago. Apparently the pilot is supposed to notify the airport on
approach that there is a person needing assistance aboard.

Frankly I try to avoid Ryan when I can because of this strange erratic and
ever fluctuating upset about dogs. My problem is flying very cheaply from
Cork to the north of England though. At the moment it is dramatically
dearer to fly from Dublin to Manchester, apparently because of the taxes,
than it is to fly Cork Liverpool. I hate to sound mean, but if you were my
accountant or bank manager you would know why. Recently I had a nominal
one euro fare from airlingus, whose attitude I find far preferable, but
maybe only till privatisation, which cost me something like 57, from Dublin
to Manchester, and a 37 cent fare from Cork to Liverpool, which only cost 37
euros.

I suspect it might be back on the ferries though within five years, with
fuel prices rising, environmental taxes around the corner, and I am told a
hike in Cork airport taxes predicted after their current development.

All The Best

Ed

P.S. Ryan is still the only airline on which I have been kissed by the
pilot, but that's a story for another day.

Subject: [IRLGuideDogs] Ryan Air travel

I have posted the below on the Ireland VIP list but because many people
from this listing may not be subscribed to the aforementioned and
because I think it is an important issue I am posting again on this
list. I merely mention this because someone might come back "snarling"
that it is not a guide dog issue.
Hello to all of you travellers, I don't know if you are aware of what I
am going to relate to you but I think it is worth mentioning anyway.
When travelling to Gatwick recently and though I had booked assistance
and this was confirmed at check in, I was asked by the air hostess for a
voucher which I should have been given at check-in. I had never heard
of this before and because I did not have this A4 size sheet she could
not get me assistance. She duly asked a passenger to assist me and when
I got my baggage I asked this individual to leave me to Airport
information. There I relayed my experience and this lady got the
assistance people who said that this was Ryan Air's ppolicy for years be
it from Dublin, Cork, Shannon or Knock or wherever. One should not
leave check-in without this piece of paper.
On my return trip I asked for this voucher at check-in and got it but
when I asked Air hostess if she required this, she just told me to hold
on to it. I again asked the individual who met me at the aircraft steps
if he wanted it and again he was not interested in it either.
So you can decipher this for yourselves. My own opinion is that if you
have this voucher in hand it ensures assistance.

Maureen.
