I know what you mean maureen, but working in the dark, and/or with your hand
inside an animal, I think blindness can be an advantage.   I also suspect
that in some situations conceptualising abstract or none visible
networks/parts of objects, it can.

  Can someone please suggest an alternative then, rather than giving a
barrage of negatives.One of the meanings attached to "handicap" in the
dictionary is: " a disadvantage that makes achievement difficult".  I don't
like it myself but then again blindness is hardly an asset!!!In my opinion
the word "disability" is worse. - think about it!
