Hi All I saw the following article in today's Irish Independent website regarding Audioscope being scrapped. Note that the Irish independent was slightly incorrect in saying that Audioscope has been on air for over 30 years but in reality it was known as Listen & See for a long time. What do you all reckon about this? Suzanne RTE to scrap radio show for blind after 30 years <http://as1.falkag.de/sel?cmd=lnk&&dat=149436&opt=0> RTE has confirmed that its long-running radio programme dedicated to blind people is to be scrapped as part of the revamped Radio One autumn schedule. Audioscope, which goes out on Wednesday nights, has been on the air for more than 30 years, and the decision to bring it to an end has been criticised by the National Council for the Blind of Ireland. "Not only does it provide news and information of specific interest to people who are blind or vision impaired, but it also increases awareness of sight loss among the wider population," chief executive Des Kenny said. He urged the station to reconsider the move, which is the latest in a number of changes by new Radio One boss Ana Leddy, including the axing of Rattlebag and John Kelly's Mystery Train. "The numbers of people who are blind or vision impaired is increasing annually," Mr Kenny said. "With an ageing population and increasing numbers of people living with diabetes and other health issues, the need for RTE to continue broadcasting Audioscope is greater than ever."
