Hi Aedan,
Well, that’s really different from Germany. I guess that’s experiencing another
culture.
It’s not that I have nothing to do or are in need of company. I’m just
generally interested.
Yes, I think family ties in Ireland are really stronger than elsewhere, which
is really nice indeed.
Ok, enough off-topic things from me now. Thanks.
 Tina

Hi Tina,
I am not aware of any other lists as you say. Might be a good idea to start
one. Most blind people here rely on family activities. We have an organised
walk for disabled and blind once a month in Cork. I am not involved as I have
aheart condition. I am also 71 years old.
Kind regards
Aedan.

Hi Aedan,
Thanks for the kind reply. I'll check that.
I signed up for this list, but it's also about technology.
I don't get it, you have at least 3 lists about technology and no other topics
at all.
These lists just compete with each other don't they?
Maybe I should set up one for free time stuff.
Are there no national gatherings for visually impaired people at all?
No trips, weekend walking tours or anything? That's surprising.
What kinds of activities do you have in Cork. You can answer me private if you
like. kaosskwien@xxxxxxxxx.
Just in case anyone is from Galway we have the bisually impaired activity club.
At the moment we do tandem cycles every second Sunday, but we also want to
offer other things.

Hi Tina,
Further to my last email I don't think there is any VIP list of the type you
mention. The best way to hear what is going on socially re music, theatre,
sports, etc is local radio, Galway Bay radio. You could also join the emailing
service of most theatres, not sure about cinemas. There is a web site run by
NCBI called Easylinks which has one click links to all radio stations and
newspapers in Ireland North and South. You could Google for this.
Kind regards
Aedan.

time activities for VIP

Hello everyone,

I subscribed to this list yesterday. I’m from Germany and study at NUI Galway
for this year.
It was really hard to find this list, in fact I found it by chance, but I
wondered for some time, if any mailing list for visually impaired people in
Ireland existed at all.
Maybe the NCBI could advertise it more on their website, since it is a great
thing.
I tried also to subscribe with vics-ireland, but I always get Invalid number of
parameters as answer, which is really strange since it worked for this list.
The link they provide in the failure mail does not work either.
Anyway, I’m not mainly interested in technical issues. Initially, I was
searching for a list dealing with free time activities (such as music, cinema,
theatre, sports, traveling …).
I don’t want to spam you with off topic things, so does anyone know a list that
would suit better for me? On the other hand, I’ve seen numerous off-topic posts
in the archive here.

All the best
Tina
