From Blind Citizens Australia.
BCA Member Events in Adelaide
You may recall that our outgoing CEO, Emma Bennison, wrote to members last
December explaining that the Board of BCA had suspended the operations of the
Adelaide branch, as no members were willing to stand for election to its
committee.
While South Australian residents have continued to participate in BCA's many
virtual activities, we are eager to offer you opportunities to connect with
local members, for peer support and advocacy on local issues.
BCA CEO Sally Aurisch and President Fiona Woods will be travelling to Adelaide
at the end of May.
We would like to invite all members to meet with us while we are there. We are
interested in hearing from you about your ideas for the future of the Adelaide
branch, including possibly expanding it to include all South Australians.
Modern BCA Branches come in many forms, reflecting the needs and interests of
their members.
This visit to Adelaide is an ideal opportunity to discuss potential options and
canvas your interest in the Branch's re-establishment. While in Adelaide, we
will also be meeting with the operators of a local e-scooter company to further
discuss our concerns around these devices and the threat they pose to people
who are blind or vision impaired. It would be good to hear from you on these
matters, as well as any other local issues of concern that you would like to
raise.
You are invited to meet with us at either, or both, of the following:
