I think they should have kept the fast back and fast forward buttons as on the PTN1. I also think it was a mistake to remove the function of going back to the beginning of a title. Nothing was made of the fact that the page fuction is virtually useless without some way of entering the page number. Of course, it is singularly unfortunate that the player was issued with what turned out to be faulty batteries and that the replacement batteries were also faulty. However, I still think that many of the lokup problems with the PTX1 have nothing to do with the battery.

I am also disappointed that only about half the people issued with the PTX1 filled in the survey.

Subject: [infotech] PTX1 survey

Hi All,

I read the RNIB's survey results of the PTX1 this week. I'm very
disappointed more was not made of the terrible rewind function. With the
previous Plextalk player issued by Talking Books, The player would rewind,
with the chattering voices, if you held down the key, or step back in 1 or
ten minute chunks in the 'Time' option.

With the PTX1, you have to hold down the key and hear, 5 seconds, 10
seconds, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes etc. Is
there anyone who actually thinks this is an improvement?

Try going back 15 minutes, to when you set the Sleep timer. A nightmare!

Regards, Kelvin
