I would be well in favor of a podcast format. I assume also that this would be faster to download as we could skip articles we weren't interested in.

Hi Brian et al,

Firstly thanks for the work you and Terry put into making the magazine. I think that there is a lot of work that goes into the production of this magazine, a lot of which people don't realise until they start producing articles etc. I for one believe Infotech is still a really good resource, and that is why I keep up my subscription.

Having said that, I am wondering whether you are giving yourself extra grief by trying to shoehorn yourself into monthly or bimonthly editions? If for example you changed to a podcast format, would it make it easier to publish articles whenever they could be made available? So, for example, this year we have had several articles over the relevant editions. However, those could be split up over more months, to give for example a single podcast per month with a single article in it.

We at BCAB have done something slightly similar because of the work involved in preparing the membership CD.

What do people think?

As for future articles, I wouldn't mind seeing something about the different scanning products on the market now that use camera techniques instead of the traditional flatbed scanner. These include the Freedom Scientific Perl solution, and the Scannar from Humanware, as well as the mobile products.

Andrew.

Hi

Lets get to the nub of the issue right away.

Unfortunately, we are not able to produce a magazine at the moment for September and October. We are extremely sorry about this. It is due to a combination of factors.

The greatest problem is time to produce it. We just don't have the time right now to get it done due to very heavy work commitments, most of which take us away from the office. The other two problems are some products not being made available to us for review and also I have to say contributions which we were promised and those promises not being honoured. I personally believe that we should be honest with you at this point and let you know what is happening.

So what we propose is that there should be a magazine during December which will be longer than the standard length you would usually receive. We have some product reviews which we can do, including the iPhone and associated applications which people have been asking for. If there is anything in particular you would like us to review, please do not hesitate to suggest it. I know a tour of Windows7 is also something people would like to hear.

Again, our sincere apologies for this and lets hope the December edition makes up for the lack of a magazine during the last quarter.

If you have any questions, please do let me know.
