Dear Lynne, This is fine! But why segregate? Visually impaired youths attend
public schools alongside youths who are fully sighted. This is something to
think about and consider. I hope that your gallbladder is not giving you
trouble and that you will be well. Yours in information, Lucia

Hi, Lucia.
While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, I, for one, must admit that I
really enjoy the touch tours and am glad to be in a group of blind and visually
impaired individuals. As I really can't appreciate the artwork visually, I'm
thrilled to be able to at least touch it. All should be free to experience art
in any way that is most gratifying and comfortable to them.

We visited two museums within a week and I got the most out of Whitney event
where we were able to hear verbal description, touch reproductions and even the
piece itself.

Experiencing art enriches and educates us and we should all participate in any
programs or we might find them far and few between.

Yours In Information
Lynne

Dear Infoshare listers, I feel very uneasy as per these touchtours. To me,
this is segregation. If our hands make the exhibits "dirty" at the tours where
nondisabled persons are present, why are the touchtours acceptable? At the
touchtours, there are no nondisabled participants present. Please advise.
Thank you and stay in otuch. I am grateful for Lynne and Maria and our
Infoshare group. Best, Lucia
