Dear List,

I get the feeling that all the discussion on this subject has been without the
full information on the table. Like Tripathi sir said all the test results
would be in his board docs. But there a number of things that would not be in
the docs.

There was a mention of his having lost his parents in his childhood and of his
being taken out of flying with a view to "save his life" - as mentioned on the
list. To save his life for whom / what? Does he have some family
responsibilities? Some sister to marry off, etc ?

By the way is he ex-NDA or CDSE? What was his motivation to join NDA/CDSE? Was
it a job? Did he want to be a pilot? Or did he join because someone told him
to? Did he know what he was getting into?

Was a psychometric analysis for motivation to fly and fear of flying done?
Stress handling? How was his performance in flying subjects? Does he really
want to get back into the cockpit or is he just trying to maintain a brave
face?

Correct me if I am wrong, but to me it maybe a case where the guy (cadet)
didn't want to get into the cockpit due to the various stresses in his life and
the 'DOC' (read IAM) was only trying to help him out! We all do it sometimes! I
have seen many an army recruit in trg centres in Bangalore boarded out for
"Adjustment Disorder" because when he joined he did not know what he was
getting into and just could not adjust to the training and the change in
lifestyle!

Moreover, isn?t ?proneness" just not another word for probability and chance?
And isn't that the basis for the 1% rule? So why are we so against the use of
proneness to decide the disposal when the entire lot of medical policies based
on the 1% rule esp in Civ Av (ICAO) (I remember an example quoted in Ernsting
to explain the 1% rule) ?

And finally, I personally believe if Kulkarni sir has taken a decision - he may
not be telling all - but he has to have his reasons!

Regards,
Anirudh
