It is difficult to say what is wrong with just this info. Did you try
to move your mouse around? Try pressing all the buttons (in turn) and
see if any menus appear. Maybe you have wound up with an extremely
minimalistic config and window manager setup in which case there is
nothing to worry - only a little mod here and there to a few startup
files.
Please do get back with the results of the mouse experiments mentioned
above.
