Dear Friends,
I am running RH 9 as my server with 73GB SCSI HDD. I
have partitioned my HDD as follows.
Disk /dev/sda: 73.4 GB, 73407868928 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 8924 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id
System
/dev/sda1 * 1 13 104391 83
Linux
/dev/sda2 14 1925 15358140 83
Linux
/dev/sda3 1926 3200 10241437+ 83
Linux
/dev/sda4 3201 8924 45978030 f
Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/sda5 3201 3454 2040223+ 82
Linux swap
/dev/sda6 3455 4671 9775521 83
Linux
The below is my disk useage:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda3 9.7G 8.6G 544M 95% /
/dev/sda1 99M 18M 76M 20% /boot
/dev/sda2 15G 9.8G 4.0G 72% /home
none 1009M 0 1009M 0% /dev/shm
my problem is there is no space left in the /
partition to install oracle, it require minimum 500MB
of space to install. Is it possible to resize my /
partition without any problem ?. I have used only 50%
of my 73GB HDD. another 50% is unused. Iam using the
/dev/sda6 for backuping files. Even i can delete the
partition if it is needed.
Please fing me solution.
best regard
babu
