[Ilugc] possible internet connection in linux

I can use the USB modem under Windows
Stay away from it :)
2. The device provided should have drivers in linux
(Touchtel provide unsupported USB modems. But claim
their routers for a price of Rs. 6000/- !! with
works
in linux)
I am actually getting a Touchtel connection (350 MB
limit) with the router. I definitely can't download
movies like what I do now (a movie a day :-p), but, it
will serve my purpose of browsing and chatting.
Of course, I will have to "emerge sync" and "emerge
-uDav world" once a month and just have to pay for the
extra MB that I overshoot. Using personal systems in
companies will depend on their security policy. Some
companies allow you to use their network (I wish I end
up here), others don't.
3. Hours usage shouldn't be counted. May bandwidth
can be counted. (So no dialup please)
Touchtel only counts bandwidth.
I have no idea about Dishnet. Another option is to
pay Touchtel Rs. 6000 (for router) (and Rs. 2000 for
reigstration, installation) to get a 350MB + 200
pulses line for Rs. 1000 per month.
I did enquire about dishnet. Their marketing person
took days to reply back. They would only go with
external USB modem to windoze. I'd rather nuke my
machine instead. They have terrible plan offers.
