Well as Bharathi S wrote user 'mani' cant set his password to those
strings because passwd doesnt allow it ;). root can though - well root
can do any thing. So if mani needs to set his passwd use a long
password that is different from the old one..
if you really do wanta small simple passwd, and dont expect others to
use your machine, get root to set it.

I) i created the user "mani"
i wanted user mani has to change his passwd on his own.
type the command "
passwd"
Type the current password:
(current) UNIX password:
after typing current password
New password:
type the newpassword
[mani@gemehost mani]$ passwd
Changing password for user mani.
Changing password for mani
(current) UNIX password:mani123
New password:
hyder
BAD PASSWORD: it is too short
New password:
ricer
BAD PASSWORD: it is too short
New password:
123mani
BAD PASSWORD: is too similar to the old one
passwd: Authentication token manipulation error
but as root i can able to change the passwd.
[root@gemehost mani]# passwd mani
Changing password for user mani.
New password:
BAD PASSWORD: it is based on a dictionary word
Retype new password:
passwd: all authentication tokens updated successfully.
please explain how can my user changes the passwd on his own.
