Ganesh Swami posts:
I think OSS will beat proprietary eventually. Look at the amount of
proprietary code gone....
Your premise of OSS beating the proprietary guys is flawed. If we
mount an attack on the proprietary guys on technical excellence, we
stand to lose. Anyday, the proprietary guys are better and they have
the power of the greenbacks to achieve this. They can easily out gun
us, particularly small time guys in Chennai and India. This is
happening in Kerala.
The OSM says that everything is about cost, the cheaper the better!
If the OSM goes on like this a day is not far off, when developers
have to eat dirt and stones. :(
Most of the licenses of the OSI have got problems. The developer is
not protected and defended for. How can you further freedom if you
are not able to defend ? Only the GNU GPL has got ammo to protect
both the developer and the end-user freedoms.
//** Here, take this arrow. This is called as the
Free Software GNU-tipped arrow. Shoot it.
It can cut and at the same time it can help you
move forward. **//
