vignesh wanted us to know:
I have downloaded the latest version of wine available at www.winehq.com. As
directed by the readme file,
I gave the following commands:
make depend && make
Probably a typo, shouldn't it be ./configure ?
The problem is I gave the make depend && make command at 0815 hrs and it is
still running now at 0840 hrs. A similar difficulty was faced when I tried
to install gtk. It is running for minutes together.
Are you low on memory ? And, how fast is your CPU ?
I am not sure about WINE, but GTK 2.x shouldnt take more than 10 minutes
on a decent computer (IIRC, about 25 minutes for GTK on a PII 266, 64MB
I compiled GNOME yesterday in about 2 hours.
I am installing them as a use and not as user. I don't think installing a
package will take this much amount of time. Where I am going wrong?
Installing as root, you mean ? It shouldn't matter for compiling. Only
the "make install" part will matter if not root and without the prefix
If you are memory-starved, try freeing up some memory. Try quitting
