Linux^WGNU/Linux (srs, I am a quick learner ;)) is usually
"distributed". The one you are referring to is called Redhat. And, you
dont need CDs 4 and 5. Read the other threads.
one more thing is that any body know how the core of the OS is compiled
and run or tested? if so then reply me plz.....
The core of _your_ OS is the kernel, and its called Linux. The userspace is
from GNU and many operating systems share these tools, simply because
they are the best. eg: FreeBSD, "Linux", etc..
The kernel is compiled just like a normal program. Since Linux is a
monolithic (pseudo maybe ?) one, its a single, huge chunk.
Many projects (FreeBSD, GNOME) use a "build sheriff", which continuously
builds the CVS, and when it breaks, it sends an email to the
maintainers. Thats a good way to keep the CVS in a buildable state.
IIRC, GNOME uses Tinderbox.
