Sridhar R [2/4/2004 6:53 PM] :
1. Is it possible to 'apt-get install' packages as
NORMAL user (i.e. the debs get installed in the home
directory ~/lib/, ~/bin/, etc... like that)
nope
you can compile some things that don't need suid privileges to run, and
run them from your homedir ...
2. What IIRC client (ncurses) do you suggest?
Currently we have bitchX installed.
that is not bad
3. 'links' (Elinks) complains about SSH not supported
and not allowing me to log into Yahoo mail. Lynx is
showing up lots of prompts, and doesn't look as pretty
as links.
so ssl is not compiled in links, and lynx is an antique version (what
else do you expect from debian?)
4. I once saw something like Yahoosucker that reads
yahoo mails through http and displays it in console.
I should give it a try. Any thoughts?
lots of them. search freshmeat
5. I lost this command! It is used to restrict users'
maximum memory, open files, blah blah and such
resources. It's SAFER to use (put it in my .bashrc)
so that I won't crash the server. But I forgot that
command. What is it?
man ulimit - or at least google for what you posted here!
