If you are using large files and directories, then go with ext4
as it offers extent based allocation, and other nice things for
large file IO.
You can also mount an ext2/ext3 fs as ext4 in a fully backwards
compatible way and still derive some ext4 benefits. But ideally,
you should be running full ext4 to avail all the new features.
