You should be logged in as root when using `xhost +', merely doing a
`su -' doesn't work (atleast for me)!
I dont think this is necessary., my woody box didnt complain.
Sridar: I use Emacs every day like this., i.e it runs on a remote
machine by the X display on the local terminal. I dont have a
problem.
1. First make sure., the XFree86 on the local client (RH) is indeed
listening for incoming network connections..
$ nmap localhost
should help you with that.
2. Then., run $xhost +a.b.c.d where a.b.c.d is the ip address of your
debian box.
3. Login to your debian box for the RH box using ssh or telnet. Then
set the variable $DISPLAY =e.f.g.h:0.0 where e.f.g.h is the address of
your RH box. After that., anything else you run should open the X
window on your RH console.
Cheers,
Joe
