and, there have been some replies too. on a single disk machine, problems
seldom arise. it is usually with multi-disk machines that problems arise.
many dual boot folks would like to have separate win and linux disks.
because of the 'high' iq of windows (perhaps, this is related to the user
population it is designed for and used by...), it makes rather strange
assumptions which imply that only some configurations will work. in fact,
on a multi disk machine, there is only one safe and sturdy configuration -
windows and the boot loader (grub/lilo) should be on the 'first' disk.
