Hi,
I am thinking of getting a new printer ( HP DJ 920C).
Only the USB port model is available.
The Linux kernel supports USP printers with the "printer" module.
modprobe printer
So the transport of data should be no problem.
The best resource for getting printers to work is
http://www.linux-printing.org
They got a database of nearly all printers and their optimal drivers.
Normally I install apsfilter, gs and lprng and configure the printer
easily with apsfilterconfig.
And I normally give lprngtool a try, but I am only buying printers with
good Linux support (i.e. Samsung laser printers, quite cheap).
I don't know so well the printer wizards of Mandrake or RH, perhaps they
have tools with even more eaze than Debian.
Have luck and a nice day,
Jochen
