Subject: [Ilugc] College Project & Fedora Request
Message-ID: <200401031017.PAA08983@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>
Hello all,
i would first like to enquire about the availability of Fedora Core 1 cds in
the group. I would be obliged if any body could give me a source for the
cds(except for downloading them from the net).
Secondly i would like to make a request to all the knowledgable Linux world
programmers to provide me with an alternative for VB/Oracle combination on
Windows to perform a DBMS lab project in Linux.I already have MySQL installed
and i thnk it would be a suitable replacemetn for Oracle. However i would like
to know if there is any other alternative. (What about PostgreSQL). But the
front end is something that i really need to know. Also if possible mention
some reference for the suggested front end.
Last but not the least if any body can come up with a good topic which can be
practically applied on instead of just ending up as a college project pls do
so. (P.S. : I was first going for a personal accounting software but when i saw
GNUCash ona friend's suggestion i was totally amazed. It offered a lot more
than what i could have imagined. Just goes to show the power of Open Source and
how there are projects and tools there that we cant even think about in the
proprietary world(denominated of course by MicroSoft).
3 cheers for OSS.
