Going from the subject line, I think the OP wants to stress test
postgres. There are several factors to consider besides CPU -- RAM,
Disk I/O, Network I/O. A couple of years ago, I had used 'pgbench'
to size out a postgres server for an e-commerce site.
@ OP -- a simple search "postgresql stress test" throws up "pgbench"
as the first link!
