hi all,
Prof sriram was sayin somthin bout Shadow. Faintly understand it
hath to do with passwords. Enlightenment please.
I opened the file from fstab it contained an entry for the
usernames in my comp for linux fillowed by some numbers . How
important is it

Are there any GUI tools in linux like VB.

Yeah.. I did pull that stunt once. Delete the partitions
including >>extendedones and then recreate them with exact
sector boundaries. >>Worked like charm but I was really scared
doing that..;-)
How did u guys actually do this ?, i mean elucidate.I really luv
all this system stuff. Must tell u , i once lost all my partions
b'coz stupid (rather stupid me) Norton told me the boot record
changed ...something . I pressed yes shutdown my comp. The next
day i boot my comp to find only the c drive.
This was about 2 yrs back and it had been only 6 monce since i
bought my first comp and been so near to any comp for that matter.
I was terrified ( all my sister's project files were in the other
partitions) yet felt adventurous, learnt how 2 use fdisk and
recreated the partitions but the data were lost for ever.
I know dd is a cool program - it copies from the disk sectors.
Please tell me how ta handle if such situation accurs. Iam
particularly interested in retreival using "DD"
