[Ilugc] Kernel upgrade problem

# Lots of stuff compiled into the kernel (no harm done but I prefer
modular kernels)
I prefer to compile in some critical stuff, including netfilter, SCSI,
ethernet drivers, some filesystems, crypto, etc. (both for performance
as well as enhanced immunity from rootkits that modify /lib/modules/...).
# No hotplug enabled (but why?)
Probably overlooked - I'm not currently using any USB or PCMCIA device.
# OSS instead of ALSA sound drivers
Some Ogle and Xine binaries which were precompiled and configured for
OSS - I'll eventually get around to rebuilding them for ALSA.
