This machine on which the problem came acts as a firewall between our
dept. network and the campus network. Linux is the only os, and no users
are allowed to login except root on console!
Googling didnt help, coudnt find the answer as to why this was happening.

I faced somewhat similar problem. I installed a utitlity to view files in
the Linux partition from Windows. All of a sudden I noticed space in my
window partition was shrinking. When I checked, I found some Linux
partition image files in Windows partition occupying about 2GB. I deleted
the files safely.

Subject: [Ilugc] Huge Files
I had posted a message reg. huge (>2GB) files on my linux system. These
files are the binaries of the fileutils package (ls, rm, chmod, chown
etc) in /bin directory.
Has anyone seen such behaviour? Is it a software bug, or a security
violation that I have to worry about?
