What was the output here? You can use:
# service mysqld start
Post your /var/log/mysqld.log, to say pastie.org, and provide us the URL.

So, mysqld is not running on your system. Can you also post output of
the following to know what is installed:
$ rpm -qa | grep mysql
SK
