This is fundamental beauty of software. You can replicate it without
loss of originality any number of times and more importantly at
nearly zero cost. You can enhance it from where it is without
restarting from scratch. That's why do not consider/equate it with
physical products. Shift focus to service away from 'selling
product'
model.
While what you say it is the Undeniable Negropontian Truth, I fail to see
the beauty as well as you do.
Probably, it will grow on me, but not yet.
I feel that is the fundamental reason why software piracy is rampant, a
video CD of even the yet-to-be-released "Passion of the Christ" is available
on the roadside for 50 bucks, and no training company in Chennai that I know
of (correct me if wrong) ever has original legal purchased copies (what an
oxymoronic name!) of BEA Weblogic or Cognos datawarehousing software.
