[Ilugc] Fedora Core 1.0 - how to test scientifically ?

Are there programs or scripts that can routinely check and evaluate the
usability of a distro?
My sys runs on an AMD Duron, and when I try installing Fedora Core
supplied with LFY, I always end up with the `kernel panic error' in the
middle of the installation, as was the case with Shirke. Once I was
able to complete the installation - but invariably the system hanged in
the middle for the same reason. The omnious sign of the kernel panic on
my sys is a frozen screen with the NumLock and ScrollLock leds flashing
on the keyboard.
