Yes. I pretty much know what SlashSupport is into. I know that there are
a few networks / workstations running on GNU/Linux machines and there
are a couple of ppl with GNU/Linux related skills. Here is an excerpt
from the mail that kicha had sent me:

What do *I* have to do with the decisions here? What right do *I* have
to setup a poll on ILUGC's website? That would be misuse of my
responsibility. When the HCL Aminjikarai guys asked the list that they
were willing to host ILUGC's meets in their premises I had only setup a
vote based on the list's response.
and when I received another mail from you, I replied to you saying that
you should contact the list instead of contacting *me*. I was into the
thinking that if you guys mentioned all that was mentioned in the
personal mail that was sent to me the list would appropriately respond
to it with its own acceptance/denial. But when ponnu contacted the list
he never mentioned about the other things that kicha had mentioned in
the personal mail addressed to me. I was a wee bit worried as to why
your mail (as in kicha's mail) and ponnu's mail were different in their
approach.

Yes, this is the public's opinion because many of us on this list (that
was when zam, thaths, etc., were on this list) decided that this group
should not get commercialised. I hope we still go by that opinion.
I donot want to mention the names of other LUGs that gave way to such a
commercialisation. But all the LUGs that got commercialised only ended
up serving as a passport for finding talents / getting jobs. Ultimately
ILUGC would no longer be the geek's group that it is.
I was not entirely against SlashSupport becoming the venue. Even now if
ILUGC finds SlashSupport as a good venue ILUGC might as well choose it.
I'm no one to decide things. Nor does any single individual excercise
his/her authority in deciding things. I was a bit concerned that ILUGC
might merely become a place where ppl can recruit 'fresh talents' and
where 'fresh talents' can get jobs. Hence I wanted to voice my views. I
thought this thread would die down gracefully after my reply (assuming
that kicha would pick up a hint that what he expects from this group
isn't correct). but ... you never know what is in store for you.

Please ask your colleagues on what they had posted before you reply in
frustration. Atleast you can keep up with the 'truth' that way (-;
