Are indian languages trans lagging or ahead of most.
Perhaps large english speaking population is reason.
Very true. I wonder how many among us are really comfortable
reading/typing/programming using our native language. I guess native
language support here has its own purpose (Desktop publishing comes to
my mind).
But for general purpose computing, is it really worth the effort at all
? I guess it would be a lot easier for people to learn english than
expecting a revamp of all applications to understand their native
language (atleast in India).
I wonder what would the word 'Gnome' sound like if translated to tamil
for instance :-P.
As a sidenote, our ability to communicate fluent english has been a plus
point for our dominance in IT.

Hi
I was just wondering if all the computer revolution had been started
here, what type of computer programming language would have evolved.
Eventhough computer speaks only 0 and 1 imagine how assembly language
would have evolved in hindi or tamil ....
What type of input device would have evolved ...
What type of computer mathametics would have evolved....
Boolean Algebra in written in hindi or tamil or ....
C, C+++ in native language
This is if the evolution has taken the same steps as what it had taken
for us now. Otherwise it would be different.
I think its impossible for any indian languages to have invented
computer revolution as its precedeed by electronics revolution again
preceeded by theoritical physics etc...
Hmm.. Wild Imagination
