My brother programs in VB only, but I've seen him using lots of
profiling tools like VTune Analyzer and trying to optimize things.
IMHO people that are good assembly programs write good programs on any
language. They try to understand deeply how things are implemented in
a language and how the code generation is done.
The idea is to choose the right tool for the right job.

I agree VB is simpler in terms of how its done and it probably has
lesser power than, say, perl/tk. But isn't it a bit unfair to rate
someone as 'non-geek' just because he/she writes VB code
I totally agree....
this sort of condescending behaviour just is not acceptable
? I know lots
of non-geek, below-average perl programmers and some "good" VB
programmers.
extremely true
IMHO, Its their involvement and approach that decides whether someone
is a geek. Not what tools they use.
