Why bother when you have sunfreeware.com (or is it
sunfreeware.org?). Long time no solaris, I forget. But that site is
where I used to get all the GNU utils from to make Solaris a useful
thing.
I tried that. The .pkg files can be installed only as root (no home
style installtions like opera). And the administrators are reluctant
to install extra packages (maintainence overhead?).
