Hi All,

You are receiving this email because you have expressed interest in
participating in the IEEE @ VU leadership for this academic year.  The
position descriptions for the official executive board can be found below.
Please review these descriptions and declare the highest position for which
you would like to run by Wednesday, September 10 at 9pm by replying to this
email.  You will be eligible to run for positions listed below your first
choice (e.g. Someone who starts with Treasurer can then run for PR or
Technology Chair if not elected).

On Friday, September 12 elections will be held in Tolentine 305 at 12:30pm
with FREE PIZZA AND SODA.  Be prepared to give an oral synopsis of your
qualifications (time alotted will be decided after the final numbers are
reported on Wednesday night).

Please note that other positions will be generated throughout the year based
on need (i.e. Events Coordinator).  The candidates for these positions will
be those that expressed interest in this first round of leadership
elections.

Branch Job Descriptions
September 8, 2003

Chair ­ The key to effective student leadership.  Responsible for the
overall management of all Branch affairs and a key motivator.  Must be
effective at delegating responsibility to officers and to certain selected
members as required by the size and range of Branch activities.  Serve as
liaison to other organizations, individuals, and chapters.  Promote the
growth, development, and success of the Branch. Attend and report all
Engineering Student Council meetings.
REQUIRES 1 YEAR IEEE @ VU EXECUTIVE BOARD EXPERIENCE

Vice Chair ­ Actively assist the Chair in all Branch operations.  Actively
recruit new members.  Manage member relations.  Attend and report all
Engineering Student Council meetings that cannot be attended by the Chair.
PREVIOUS  IEEE @ VU EXECUTIVE BOARD EXPERIENCE RECOMMENDED

Secretary ­ Responsible for recording and communicating the proceedings and
activities of the branch. Formal minutes will be recorded at each meeting to
be approved by the Executive Board via email following the meeting.  Written
event reports will be composed for the historical record of the Branch.
Photographs will also be used as a means of recording with assistance from
the Technology Chair.  All minutes and reports will be disseminated to the
entirety of the branch via the website administered by the Technology Chair.
CANDIDATES FOR SECRETARY MUST EXHIBIT EFFECTIVE WRITTEN COMMUNICATION SKILLS
& ATTENTION TO DETAILS

Treasurer ­ Manage all Branch finances including budgeting, reporting, and
processing.

Public Relations (PR) Chair ­ Responsible for the dissemination of all
information that is pertinent to successful extra-branch communications.
Responsible for making the activities of the branch known to the public in
order to increase event participation, recruitment, and recognition. Avenues
for publication include, but are not limited to, posters, email
announcements, and local newspapers.

Technology Chair ­ Responsible for the management and propagation of
technology for the successful operation of the branch.  Specific duties to
include management of mailing lists, management of the Branch website, and
control of digital camera resources.
