Did the purge delete ALL padstacks? If not, did you run DbDoctor before doing
the purge of unused pad stacks? Sometimes a padstack doesn't realize it's
unused until you've run DbDoctor.

Hi Bill,
I was thinking the same thing, so last night I deleted all symbols, and vias in
a copy of the design, purged unused pad stacks, ran a dbcheck, and still
COVERLAY was there.
The bigger problem that I was not going to get into is I believe this layer is
interfering with a proper usage of COVERLAY_TOP and COVERLAY_BOTTOM. I have
built padstacks that mirror properly in a new .brd, but the COVERLAY_BOTTOM
will not work in this current board. Same padstack, same symbol works in a
brand new board, not in the current board.
Any other thoughts?

Hi,
I would think it is in a padstack in the brd. I would look at my padstacks and
remove it from the padstack and
Update the brd. You can't remove it from the subclass list like a custom layer.
You would have to remove it from the padstack.

Hi,
I hope this isn't a stupid question...
I am having a real issue removing a non-conductor pad stack layer called
COVERLAY from a board database. I did not create the database, so I don't
know how that pad stack layer got created. Now that I able to create a
COVERLAY_TOP and COVERLAY_BOTTOM to the source pad stack, I really need to
delete COVERLAY.
