Cadence’s original Win 7 support statement was incorrect, you only need to have
Admin privileges to install, you do not need admin priv to run it after
install. I have filed an SR on this and they will be updating the
documentation. As for UAC, yes it needs to be turned off for install.

Below is the new Win 7 support statement that resulted from my SR:

=======================================================

“SPB 16.3 (no earlier versions), with Hotfix 005 and higher, now officially
supports Windows 7.

In order to install this Cadence release on Windows 7, you must be logged on
with ADMINISTRATIVE privileges. Additionally, User Account Controls (UAC) must
be TURNED OFF. If UAC setting are not off you will have to answer prompts.

In order to execute the software you do not need to be a member of the
administrators group (admin privileges).

You can find additional installation information in the Cadence SPB/OrCAD 16.3
Release Installation Guide for Windows, Version 16.3 (pcbInstall.pdf) in the
Documents folder of the Disk 1 folder of the Cadence Product DVD or image.

Please remember to go to your graphics card vendor's website to download the
latest graphic driver.”

I heard from Cadence that to not only install, but also use their tools Windows
7, you had to have admin privileges with UAC turned off. Is that not a problem
for anyone? Is everyone just running stand alone with no broad user base?
