Do a search on your drive(s) for the directory PCBENV . Inside the above directory there should be your local env file.
Or
do a search on ENV on your drive(s) and you'll get the local and the original env file that came with the install. You can then resolve multiple env files. You should not change the env files in the cadence software directory structure. Only change your local env file.

Howdy,
If set correctly, I believe Allegro reads the env file in the install directory, then the one defined by the user's HOME variable, then the project. It is either another variable or a specific sub-directory that Allegro looks for to read a design specific env. I cannot recall specifics at the moment but I will get back with them in a day or two if no one else does.
I seem to recall there is documentation for doing this somewhere; either in the online help or SinkLink.
Cheers!

Maybe someone can explain to all of us how does the env work…… I was told that the default env is in the home directory,and after that, the sytem looks for the env in documents and settings and after that in the physical directory of the board ….. is this correct….. it does not work fro me.. as I have many customers and I have to change the settings every time I load the board……… can anyone help…….

Chandra,
Have you tried the suggestion from the first reply? => What is the value for the HOME variable as reported by Allegro when you type "set" (without the quotes) at the Allegro command line?

Chandra,
your %home% path is probably having some issue.I agree.
I get to the system variable by right-clicking on My Computer on the desktop; select Properties; click on the Advanced tab; then click the Environment Variables button. The HOME variable should be in the User variables section and I believe should look like this;
Variable Value HOME D:\Project-PCB
Make sure that your env file is not adding to this variable. I am using WinXP but the above should be near the same if not exact for W2K.
Cheers! Drew

type "set" command inside your allegro console and see, see what is the link ?
Looks like the allegro program cannot find the env file in the home path location
