[PCB_FORUM] Pin functions in netlist

Hi Folks,
I have always gotten netlist and device files from the Viewlogic schematic
capture software.
The new netlist I have just recieved (we no longer use Viewlogic) has no
device files (so I
will need to create them), and no pin function section. Just packages and
nets. My question:
are the pin functions needed by Allegro in the netlist and device files, or
were they just part
of the Viewlogic program?
Which schematic capture software(s) (if I could buy what I wanted since we
are switching)
best interfaces with Allegro, so I won't need to hand edit this stuff?
