Thanks Dave, that doesn't sound too bad.

Gary,

Take a known design and extract a "net list with properties"

1) File > Export > Netlist with properties

The file will be equal to a 3rd party netlist and have all the syntax.

The 2nd part is dump the device files from the same board.

2) File > Export > Libraries ( click all check boxes, including no library
dependencies)

This will give you example device.txt files, 1 for each symbol on the board
with the same name.

You'll need both the netlist and devices files (both matching your new design)
to import into Allegro through 3rd party in.

3) File > Import > Logic > Other

Checking only "Syntax check only" will help you trouble shoot the netlist and
device files.

Then move to Supersede all logical data (check box) and the netlist will really
import (with error and debug again from there).

Dave

Subject: [PCB_FORUM] 3rd Party Netlist

Hey guys,

As usual, the Cadence Help is only so helpful!

I want to create a 3rd party netlist file (i.e. not schematic driven), and the
Help mentions the "Transferring Logic Design Data user guide in your
documentation set" (in yellow below).

Does anyone know where this "documentation set" is located, or have an example
format for a netlist file?

Thanks for any help
