Why not replace the padstacks with the ones you want?
Then, when you have layers back in, you won't have
future problems.
Just a thought...

I believe I have figured out the problem. These symbols were dumped from a .brd file. When I remove all the internal layers from the cross-section then I can do a refresh and get them all. The display element still says 'derived from' but the padstacks actually refreshed.

Hi All,
I am in 15.2 and am trying to update and refresh padstacks in some
symbols we received from a customer but have run into a snag. I
cannot replace or refresh all padstacks in a symbol at once, even if
they are all the same, if there is a derived from note( I say note
as it does not appear in the properties but does on the display
element for the pin)on them. Example: I have a connector with 40
pins all the same padstack except that all pins except 1 and 40 say
derived from. If I do a refresh, replace or update to design only
the non-derived pads appear to update. I have also tried doing an
edit both with and without the "include derived padstacks box"
clicked. Nothing seems to work. What am I doing wrong? Thanks,
Dharma
