Press pound plus program 2 until you hear thumb braille or ABC mode. Then,
you can enter text as normal. If Jenny or someone already answered this, I
apologize. I didn't get anything else regarding this matter. I still won't
answer your question, to avoid causing traffic. Since this was kind of a
buried question, I thought I would answer it.

HI all. Okay, got our dealer unit today. it had an older version of the
software on it so I attempted to update.
I was successful in updating to 1.06 build 28.
I was then informed that I had to register in order to update to 1.1 NO
problem. filled out the form. Hmmmm, zip code is a numeric field. Canadian
postal codes are alpha numeric. No problem, plugged in a usb keyboard and
was able to enter correct info. the first time, got registration
successful. However, when I goto software update now, I get informed that I
must register first with a blank form again. I have tried again but now I
get registration error: registered.
Wonder if I can download 1.1 through another method and install manually. I
suspect I am stuck until MOnday but after about an hour and a half of
playing with this unit, I love it and think I just might have to find the
money to buy a personal one. This is a very cool device. I just loaded a
bunch of mp3 tunes and text books on it and am going to go and play with
those now.
If anyone knows of a way around this registration thing, I would appreciate
it.
Btw. How do I find the serial number on the older firmware. on the new
version, it is in the status menu but not on here.
Suspect I will need it if I have to call on MOnday.
