another way to do it is to go to the properties of the drive in this case,
the icon/bp, don't open it but instead, press alt+enter, and control+tab to
tools. click check disk for errors, check the two checkboxes and click
start and it will run. Is there a reason for doing it from the command
prompt?

Hi Marta:
It is under Start menu, Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt.
Once you're in that prompt, you have to type in chkdsk, followed by space
and the letter of the drive and a colon and press Enter.
When you're finnished, type in the word exit to return to Windows status.

Hello listers:
I've seen messages herein the past advising other listers to run the check
disk utility while the Braille Plus or Icon is in disk drive mode as a way
to figure out what could be wrong with the device when some problems arise.
Does this utility come with the unit? I notice that I can not invoke it
while the Braille Plus is in disk drive mode and connected to my PC as my
windows xp system doesn't have it, and it appears the unit doesn't have it
either.
How would one get this utility?
